in 3D made me slightly dizzy. the 3D glasses are no longer made with a paper frame with one red lens and one blue lens. they are black, made of plastic and the lenses are a shade of black. it’s a bit heavy on the nose, even worse if you have a pair of glasses on already.

camera flashes clicked throughout the cinema as everyone tried to catch a shot of themselves and their friends in the silly specs. i would have taken a pic too..haha, if i had my camera with me, or if my mobile camera allowed taking pictures in the dark. another interesting point was that the theater was filled with adults, not kids.

the movie on the other hand, was fantastic. i totally enjoyed it. funny, silly, heart-warming, exciting. i want a pet baby mammoth! so cute! huge eyes and long lashes.

o, since i’m at it. can i have bumble bee too? i really don’t mind a Chevrolet Camaro which can drive on its own. haha. love the movie! i’m looking forward to the third installment (i expect there to be one). an almost 3 hours movie which really didn’t feel that long. can i get the action figure which really transforms from a car to the full robot? i used to have one. wonder where it is.

nav suggested having dinner at an egyptian restaurant for our first meet up with his new girl. so off to haji lane we went, to apparently, the only egyptian place in singapore.

parking in the area was a pain. it took 3 rounds, and at last, we ended up parking at golden landmark. so point to note if u’re heading that area. han says, it’s got everything to do with patience to get a lot in the area. wait it out.

i don’t have pictures of the food. doh~ i forgot..totally. but it was good. the chickpea appetizer was good. seriously, i cannot tell egyptian apart from lebanese or middle eastern, but the food there was great. the meats were tender and flavoured just right. we chose pita for our staple instead of rice. it’s mainly for meat-lovers though, i’d say.

downside, it was warm. it’s air-conditioned upstairs, but you’ll have to remove your shoes and sit on the floor. nav chose to sit on chairs and make do with fans.

definitely a choice if you’re looking for an interesting change should you be bored with the everyday choices that we have to make at meal times – western/chinese/jap/thai/viet – try egyptian next time!

directly next to altazzag is a shisha bar which was playing clubbing music throughout the evening, drowning out the egyptian tune (we assume) that was playing at altazzag. patrons walking along the alleys with their shisha in hand seemed to be a norm in that area.

haji lane at night was a minor eye opener to me, to a part of sg that i didn’t know. i watched the gruops of teens sitting on carpets, with their shisha placed in the middle, on the dark corridors outside shophouses as i left the place. it didn’t appeal to me, but it looked like fun if i was sixteen. i’d really prefer to have my shisha indoors at a lounge, with lights and aircon. graffiti on the walls and the small ‘designer’ shops were also rather alluring. maybe one day i’ll pop by in the day.

different, but nice.

Pop star Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles, aged 50

•June 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

While we were all asleep and dreaming, in the wee hours about about 3am sg time…

“Paramedics were called to the singer’s home around midday local time on Thursday after he stopped breathing and suffered a suspected cardiac arrest.

He was rushed by ambulance to a local medical centre, but his death was announced shortly afterwards.” – BBC News

“He had reportedly been very frail in recent weeks as he struggled to prepare for a 50 concerts in London, which were due to start on July 13.

Police said that an emergency call was made from the house at 12.21pm local time [8.21pm uk] and paramedics raced to the scene.

Jackson, who has three young children, was seen being taken into an ambulance by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and moved to the UCLA Medical Centre, according to celebrity website TMZ.” – Home Mail

This came as a shock on the radio this morning. Almost as if it was a hoax. I was never a great fan, but i enjoyed his songs, and him as a performer immensely. It doesn’t seem right that his legend ends this way. I hope the media would give his less glamourous history a rest and focus on his achievements instead.

goodbye…

this was before watching ‘ghosts of girlfriends past’. highly recommended for guys who want to learn to pick up girls at the bar. haha. and i want to travel on a bed too! very typical chick flick (i like!) along with the fact that jennifer garner looks a lil too skinny, a good show for laughters and just chillin’.

hammy in the window

hammy in the window

onigiri and above is hammy, who was found in the window of pet shop at great world city, trying to look like a dumpling, or trying to be an onigiri. haha.. see the similarity already?! ————>
there was another hammy who looked like a gyoza. but he was too far in to have a picture taken. and pls note that i do not have a condition that makes all hammies look like food.

i saw this place on some tv programme and was drawn to it. and den i saw it again on wenzz blog, and thought i should really go try this place out. so we went and got lost on saturday morning. but we did manage to find our way into this little hidden corner.

as excited as we were about having breakfast, we got drawn to the lunch menu as it was already 11ish when we got there. as much as i looked on in envy at the pancakes on the next table, i decided that i could have the pancakes the next time.

we ordered – portobello mushroom with prawn, calamari, steak (her), carbonara (me). the calamari was an additional order that we couldn’t resist, and thus, we clearly overordered. but it was a good lunch! every dish was just perfect. in spite of the fact that the place was un-aircon-ed, it wasn’t warm. but it is very much a family place, babies all around. cute, not the noisy sorts.

all in all, i’m gg back there again! this time, i’m eating the pancakes!

check out their website and reviews!

this show is a fantastic blend of medical drama and the glam world of riches. so it’s a perfect dose of house/grey’s anatomy and gossipgirl/the OC.

check out royal pains.

i thot the pilot episode was good. the doctor isn’t that much of a looker, but the babes are not bad at all. i hope this show makes it past season 1.

watch royal pains pilot episode here.

being kinda a regular at rida video at serene centre, we walk in mostly without any movies in our minds. sometimes we feel like chick flick, some days we feel like catching something not as bimbotic. after watching us loiter in the shop for approximately 5 mins, the shop owner offered to give us a few recommendations. and we’re the easiest customers. we took the 2 shows she gave us right on spot.

and they were good shows. at least i thought so.

into the wild

into the wild

would you give up everything and leave home, not a penny to your name, get an all new identity as a nobody, become uncontactable from your family and friends and live life in as a tramp upon graduation?

i don’t think i can. as much as i enjoyed and was envious of his adventures, i really don’t think i can survive like he did.

the movie brought a new insight. but not of enlightenment, more of irresponsibility to himself, and to the people who cared about him. yes, carefree, admirable, and impressed, but at the same time, stupid, overconfident and selfish.

in the end, Chris McCandless died of starvation, weighing only about 30kg when he  was found.

when u’re bored one day, pop by a dvd shop, or, you can catch it here online.

kinky boots

kinky boots

british comedy has never been my thing. brit humour confuses me and i just don’t get it some time. i was slightly skeptical watching this, but, it proved me wrong.

from traditional england to drag queens in soho to the glamorous runway of milan.

this show is more than shoe manufacturing. it’s also about relationships and forgiveness.

there really isn’t much else to say. you’ll have to watch it to understand what this show encompasses.

nice boots and i loved the runway scene! u can catch it here online too!

sunset on friday 05jun09

did you catch that brilliant sunset on friday?

and my first visit to prive at keppel bay today..

prive@keppel

prive@keppel

the drive there is indeed very nice and pleasant, passing through the white-washed bridge with waters on either side. watching the families enjoy their breakfast, while we stirred our coffees and waited for our bacon and toast. strolling past the ‘white rabbit’ yacht, the construction, the morning glory wall and taking a moment to watch the wind vanes turn in the breeze. simple sunday.

as for the food, jones the grocer still seems like the better choice. but for the ambience, for the feel, spend a morning at prive.
